Description of Coldwell Activity Centre: The charity, Coldwell Inn Project, commenced in 1985 to convert an 18th Century building into an Activity Centre for young people. The building and woodland, overlooking Coldwell Reservoir is only 3 miles from J13 of the M65, making it both secluded and accessible, an ideal environment for a residential experience. The fully refurbished building provides an ideal location for a group holiday -
Fully refurbished. Lift to first floor, Cinema style facilities, three additional En-suite rooms. Larger games room - lots more space. Private Dining Room and Lounge, TV room, 11 New Bedrooms providing Private 23 beds in shared rooms, (wheelchair accessible ). • Full Centre catering. breakfast, lunch and evening meal available. • Exclusive use of the residential area providing a home-from-home atmosphere with own Private Entrance. • Design your own programme to meet educational and/or leisure needs.
Orienteering
The Orienteering courses provide not only an excellent way to explore the adjacent woodland area, but also a perfect introduction to map-reading skills in a fun way within a controlled and safe environment.
Conservatory
The Conservatory is available for Private Parties. Choose to sit inside, or outside on our picnic benches, adjacent to the children’s play area. In either case enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the location and the breathtaking scenery surrounding the Centre.
Play Area
- Created during the spring of 2004, this new facility is proving very popular with many small children whose families are visiting the Centre.
Sensory Garden
This is an on-going project and the garden changes from season to season and year to year. For those with an interest in horticulture and/or art, it provides an ever-changing attraction, stimulating the senses of sight, smell and hearing.
Walking
Public footpaths abound in the area, making Coldwell an attractive centre for walkers and ramblers. The popular Pendle Way is routed through the Centre’s grounds, the Brontë Way lies less than half a mile away, and the Mary Towneley Loop of the Pennine Bridleway passes close by.
Fishing
Coldwell, on behalf of Nelson Angling Association, can provide day fishing permits by prior arrangement.
