Description of Garemount Lodge Lochside Self-Catering: Four Star, two-storey cottage adjoining attractive architect-designed home, set in large garden, with excellent views over the Gareloch. Sleeps 2 (max. 3).

The cottage has a private entrance. A small hall leads to a large open-plan kitchen/living-room with views of the loch. The kitchen is fully equipped including oven, hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, washer/dryer, iron, and a good selection of crockery etc. The living area has a maple dining-table and chairs, a double sofabed, easy-chair, and a feature-fireplace. There is a T.V. with Freeview, DVD player and a choice of DVDs, radio/CD-player. and a selection of books and toys plus lots of tourist information about this area.

Upstairs, the double-bedded room has panoramic views of the Gareloch and is furnished with an antique four-piece suite, TV, radio/clock/alarm, and hairdryer. It adjoins the bathroom – full-size bath with over-bath electric shower, electric shaver point, constant hot water, and a selection of toiletries.

A cot or a single futon are available. We provide all bedlinen, plus towels, gas central-heating and electricity.

Outside, there’s a patio with table and chairs, and ample off-road car-parking space.

We‘re a no-smoking establishment.

We welcome well-behaved dogs (sorry, one dog only) who brings his own bed, and who won’t be left alone in the property at any time. There are lots of good dog-walking places in this area.

Local Attractions close to Garemount Lodge Lochside Self-Catering: Argyll and Bute is arguably Scotland’s most scenic county with excellent road and rail links to the rest of the country. Garemount Lodge is an ideal base for exploring – we’re on the Clyde Sea Lochs Trail, a mile from the village of Rhu (friendly pub, 2 hotels, post office and shop). Helensburgh has two railway stations (south to Glasgow, north on the picturesque West Highland Line of Harry Potter fame), and boasts many independent shops selling a variety of goods. There’s Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterpiece The Hill House, restaurants, coffee shops, golf, tennis, bowling, putting, a swimming pool, fitness centre, and a variety of pleasant walks. The Waverley, Britain’s last ocean-going paddle-steamer, sails from Helensburgh to the Kyles of Bute in the summer months. The Loch Lomond National Park with its visitor centre, shops, and Sea Life Centre is nearby. Glasgow, one of Europe’s top-destination cities, is 25 miles away. Glasgow Airport is 20 miles distance whilst Edinburgh is an hour and three-quarters drive. Less than an hour away, are the Trossachs (Rob Roy country) , Stirling Castle, the William Wallace Monument, Blair Drummond Wild-Life Park, and Inveraray Castle. From your windows, see sailing boats or even a submarine enroute to the Clyde Submarine Base, half a mile away. There’s sailing on the Gareloch, and Shandon Country Pursuits, a short walk away, offers clay-pigeon shooting, quad-biking, fishing, or archery. You can visit castles, whisky distilleries, gardens, Highland Games, museums, art galleries, sailing regattas, golf tournaments, and much more.
