Glendale House was built in 1875 by Edward Fuller Sewell, an uncle of Anna Sewell, the author of the novel "Black Beauty". It is a Victorian stone built residence occupying a prime position in the centre of the picturesque village of Goathland, high on the North Yorkshire Moors.
